Scope of works.
Duration 14 weeks | Value 500K | Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
O’Connell Demolition Ltd completed the demolition of Park House and multiple surrounding buildings. The project scope included a full soft strip, asbestos removal across four phases, and structural demolition. In addition all hardcore arisings were crushed onsite and disposed offsite. The project also involved installing a 450-meter boundary fencing system and managing live utility services including a significant below ground service tunnel and a live HV cable crossing the demolition zone. Demolition was carried out down to the base slab (DPC), ensuring the ground slab remained intact.
With a strong focus on sustainability, 99% of materials were being recycled through onsite crushing for reuse in the construction industry locally. The team worked closely with the client and environmental specialists to minimise disruption to the sensitive hospital environment surrounding the site. Despite challenges, the project remained on track, demonstrating O’Connell Demolition Ltd’s expertise in delivering complex demolition works safely and responsibly.
