The Former Bus Depot on Leven Road was a 14,000m2 structure bounded by the River Lea and the busy residential area of Leven Road. As Principal Contractor for the demolition phase, O'Connell's took full possession of the site for a 20-week period. Works included façade retention, extensive archaeological investigations, demolition of all above ground structures, removal of below-ground obstructions to a depth of 4m, crushing of 12,600m3 of concrete to 6f5 specification, muckaway and piling mat installation. Environmental considerations included implementing a comprehensive noise, dust, and vibration monitoring system around the site perimeter. A FRAP permit from the Environmental Agency was required for works adjacent to the River Lea, and we partnered closely with our client to secure this in good time.
"During the works, O'Connell Demolition Ltd worked very closely with our team and maintained excellent communication channels throughout.
